3. Toyota Camry hybrid
Another hybrid from Toyota India’s line up is the Camry sedan. While it is also available with petrol option, its hybrid variant is more popular in India, accounting for almost 70% of its sales. Power source on Toyota’s popular hybrid is the DOHC VVT-i 2.5-litre petrol engine that works in conjunction with an electric motor. The petrol engine makes 158bhp and the electric motor generates 44bhp, albeit the collective power is around 202bhp. Transmission duties on the Camry are handled by an electronically continuously variable gearbox. In addition, the car can be driven in three modes- EV, Eco and Normal. As per company’s claim, the car delivers an impressive mileage of 19.6km/l.

4. Maruti Suzuki Ciaz SHVS
Maruti introduced its SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) technology on the diesel powered Ciaz. Delivering above 28kmpl, Ciaz was claimed to the most fuel efficient diesel sedan in India until Maruti launched the new Dzire that offers marginally more mileage than Ciaz. Equipped with an integrated starter generator, the sedan packs 1.5-litre engine that generates 89bhp at 4000rpm and 220Nm of torque at 1750rpm.
