It seems that Maruti Suzuki India have some really big plans for the Indian market. While the carmaker showcased its futuristic products – Future S and e-Survivor concepts – at the Auto Expo 2018, it is also working on a couple of new models from different segment. One of the much-awaited new Maruti cars is the Grand Vitara premium SUV that was recently spotted testing in the country.
While the Vitara Brezza is a subcompact SUV, the Maruti Grand Vitara (could be named Vitara in India) will measure over 4-meter in length. Carrying crossover-ish design attributes, the new SUV will be 4,175mm long, 1,775mm wide and 1,610mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,500mm. Check Out – Upcoming Maruti Cars in India
Engine mechanism of the new Vitara premium SUV will include – a 1.6-litre petrol, a 1.4-litre diesel and a 1.6-litre diesel unit. Rumor also has it that it might come with the tried-and-tested Fiat-sourced 1.6-litre DDiS diesel and the all-new 1.5-litre petrol powertrains. Painted in Atlantis Turquiose shade, the spotted model features wraparound taillamps and silver plate on the lower rear bumper. As of now, the exterior design and feature details of the India-spec Vitara are under the wraps. Though, it is expected to be packed with advanced comfort and connectivity features including a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone integration, reverse parking camera and sensors, leather wrapped steering, premium leather seats, etc. Read: New-gen Maurti WagonR – All You Need To Know
In the premium SUV space, the Maruti Vitara will take on the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and others in the league. Pricing of the SUV is likely to be start from Rs 12 lakh and might go up to Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom).
