Japanese automaker, Yamaha will launch the much-anticipated MT-15 naked streetfighter in the Indian market tomorrow. Dealers have officially started taking pre-orders for the much-awaited new MT-15 motorcycle at a token amount of Rs 5,000. Based on the new R15 V3.0, the Yamaha MT-15 will be launched as a premium entry-level naked 150cc motorcycle. It won’t have a direct challenge in India, though the MT-15 could impact the sales of Bajaj Pulsar NS200, TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and Hero Xtreme 200R. It is expected to be priced around Rs 1.20 lakh.

The new Yamaha MT-15 is powered by a 155cc, SOHC, liquid-cooled, 4-valve, FI engine, which is benefitted with VVA (Variable Valve Actuation). This engine is capable of producing 19.1bhp of power and 14.7Nm of torque. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a six-speed gearbox benefitted with assist-slip clutch.

Instead of the USD front forks and aluminium swingarm in the Thailand-spec bike, the India-spec MT-15 motorcycle gets a conventional telescopic front fork and a box-type swingarm. This will help the automaker to curb pricing. The motorcycle will come with dual disc brakes along with dual-channel ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System).

In terms of styling, the new Yamaha MT-15 naked motorcycle gets bug-eye shaped LED projector headlamps, sculpted fuel tank with radiator guards, single seat, MT-09 inspired tail and all-digital instrument console. The motorcycle is built on the Deltabox platform that also underpins the R15 V3.0.
