Volkswagen will expand its India product lineup with 10 new products in the next couple of years. The model lineup will include Volkswagen T-Roc premium compact SUV, the long-wheelbase version of the Tiguan (Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace) and a India-specific Volkswagen T-Cross based model.

According to carandbike, the German carmaker will showcase the production version of the all-new Volkswagen T-Roc compact SUV at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo in February. Its official launch will take place around June, 2020.

In India, the Volkswagen T-Roc will be made available with petrol engine only. It will get a 1.5L turbocharged TSI engine paired to a 7-Speed DSG dual clutch automatic gearbox. The European version of the SUV comes with 3 powertrains – 1.0L TSI, 1.5L TSI and 2.0L TSI.

Talking about the proportions, the T-Roc will be slightly smaller measuring 4234mm in length, 1819mm in width and 1573mm in height. It sits on a wheelbase of 2603mm and offers a boot space of 445-litres. By folding the rear seat, one can increase its cargo volume up to 1290-litres. Aiming to achieve competitive pricing, the German carmaker will manufacture its upcoming compact SUV with heavy localisation. Furthermore, the vehicle will share its platform and several components with Skoda’s upcoming mid-size SUV that will debut at the 2020 Auto Expo.

2018 Volkswagen T-ROC Revealed Rear Side

The Volkswagen T-Roc could be offered in a single, fully-loaded variant with dual-tone colour options. It’s estimated to be priced around Rs 18 lakh – Rs 19 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV will be brought to India under the government’s new scheme that allows importing 2,500 units without local homologation.
