As a part of its ‘India 2.0’ project, Volkswagen Group India announced merger of its three subsidiaries into one entity – Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL).

The newly-formed company will bring in a range of new SUVs in India between 2020 and 2021. According to a fresh media report, the German carmaker will launch the performance-oriented Skoda Kodiaq RS and the Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace in India sometime next year.

The Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace is essentially the long-wheelbase version of the Tiguan SUV featuring 7-seats layout. With bigger dimensions, it offers more cabin space. Price of the Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace will slightly higher than the regular model that costs between Rs 28.07 lakh and Rs 31.46 lakh (ex-showroom).

Talking about the Skoda Kodiaq RS, the performance-oriented SUV derives its power from a 2.0L twin turbocharged in-line 4 diesel engine pushing out a peak power of 236bhp at 4,000rpm and 500Nm of torque between 1750rpm -2500rpm.

It features revised bumper, black vertical-slat grille, blacked out ORVMs, larger Xtreme 20-inch alloys, LED taillamps with black detailing, Alcantara leather with contrast red stitching and red highlights and leather-wrapped flat bottom steering wheel.

In India, the Skoda Kodiaq RS will come through CBU (Completely Built Unit) route and is estimated to cost around Rs 40 lakh – Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom).
