Toyota Innova Crysta Gets Hill Start Assist, Stability Control As Standard
With an aim to enhance safety quotient of its highly popular Innova Crysta MPV, Toyota Kirloskar Motor has made a couple of safety features standard on the model lineup. Now, all variants of the BS6 Toyota Innova Crysta are available with vehicle stability control (VSC) and hill start assist (HAS). Earlier, both safety fitments are exclusively offered on the top-spec ZX trim.
The MPV offers dual front airbags, driver knee airbag, anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake distribution (EBD) and brake assist, seat belt warning, Isofix child seat, 3-point ELR seatbelt for all passengers, 3-point ELR with pre-tensioner and force limiter height adjustable and engine start-stop as standard safety features. The MPV comes in four trims – G, GX, VX and ZX – and two seating configurations – 7 and 8-seats.
In January 2020, the carmaker rolled out the BS6-compliant version of the Innova Crysta. While the 2.8L diesel motor was scrapped out from the lineup, the 2.4L diesel and 2.7L petrol engines continue power the vehicle. Prices of the BS6 Toyota Innova Crysta start from Rs 15.36 lakh for the entry-level petrol variant and go up to Rs 16.14 lakh for the top-end trim.
Recently, the CNG version of the Innova Crysta was spotted testing in the country. The model is likely to feature a 2.7L dual VVT-I petrol engine with a CNG kit. For performing transmission duties, it might get a 5-speed manual gearbox. Its official launch details are yet to be announced. Though, the Toyota Innova Crysta CNG is reported to hit showrooms the end of this year.
The carmaker is also planning to give a mid-life update to the Innova Crysta. The facelifted model is likely to receive minor changes inside and out. The MPV might get an updated touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity along with a few new features.
Design bits such as updated front bumper, LED headlamps and taillamps will give it a refreshing look. The 2020 Toyota Innova Crysta facelift is likely to come with the same engine setup and gearbox options.
