Skoda Karoq, Rapid TSI, Superb and Kodiaq Facelifts Launch This Year

Czech automaker, Skoda will launch 4 cars in the Indian market post-lockdown. The company will introduce the much-awaited Karoq SUV, Superb facelift, BSVI compliant Rapid TSI and the Kodiaq facelift. The launch of these models was delayed due to the ongoing coronavirus lockdown. While the Karoq, Rapid TSI and Superb facelift will go on sale in the next 1-2 months, the Kodiaq facelift is expected to be launched during festive season, before Diwali.

The Skoda Karoq is expected to be launched digitally on May 6, 2020. Unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo, the Karoq will be the brand’s second SUV in India to be based on the MQB platform. It will be launched as a CKD model and likely to cost over 20 lakh. The SUV will rival the likes of the Hyundai Tucson, Honda CR-V and the upcoming Citroen C5 Aircross.

The Skoda Karoq will be powered by a new BSVI compliant 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder TSI petrol engine that is capable of producing 148bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.

The new Skoda Superb faceloft is likely to be launched soon after the lifting of lockdown. The full-size sedan receives some changes to its styling. It gets revised front and rear fascias. The sedan is powered by a new BSVI compliant 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder TSI engine that is capable of producing 187bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. A 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox will be offered as standard. It is likely to be priced around Rs 30 lakh.

Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo Specs

Skoda’s most affordable car, the Rapid sedan will receive an all-new 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. This engine is capable of producing 110bhp of power and 175Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. The sedan is likely to be priced around Rs 8.5 lakh – Rs 11 lakh.

Talking about the Kodiaq facelift, the full-size SUV will come with updated front and rear fascias. It will also receive a new 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine, which will soon be introduced in the Superb facelift. The company could also opt for the 245bhp, 2.0L engine, which powers the Octavia RS245.
