3. Tata Hexa

5 Cars For Large Indian Families

Based on Tata Motors’ new IMPACT design language, the Tata Hexa is a replacement to Aria crossover that failed to gain traction in the segment. Sporting muscular looks and aggressive stance, Hexa is another good option in the 7-seater family vehicle segment. It is not only spacious on the inside, but it is also stuffed with a host of comfort and safety features. As for the engine options, it is available with a 2.2-litre VARICOR 320 and 2.2-litre VARICOR 400 diesel engines. The Hexa carline is offered with manual and automatic transmissions.

In terms of design, the new Hexa 7-seater SUV gets aggressive SUV-like elements and styling bits. It features honeycomb mesh grille, projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights and silver finished skid plate. The side profile looks more like MPV, but it has some aggressive design bits like pronounced wheel arches, new 19-inch alloy wheels and body cladding. At the back, the SUV gets dual-tone bumper and dual-tone exhaust tip, new wraparound LED tail-lights and a roof mounted spoiler.

In terms of proportions, the new Hexa is 4,788mm in length, 1,900mm in width and 1,785mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,850mm. The wheelbase of Hexa is around 100mm more than the Innova, which ensures spacious cabin. The SUV comes with a ground clearance of 200mm, which is more than sufficient to tackle Indian road conditions. This SUV also offers a boot space of 128-litres, which can be further expanded to 671-litres by folding the second and third seats.

Powering the SUV is a 2.2-litre VARICOR 400 diesel engine that is capable of producing 154.2bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. For transmission duties, the SUV gets a 5-speed manual and a six-speed automatic gearbox. Both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive options will be on offer.
