Tata Motors’ new SUV will be the company’s first product to be based on the Land Rover’s platform. Built on Discovery Sport platform, the new SUV will come in two seating layouts – 5 and 7. Tata has confirmed that future products above 4.3 meter in length will use this platform.
The new H5X SUV will be powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, which is sourced from Fiat. This engine offers two states of tunes – 148bhp/350Nm and 170bhp/350Nm. Former will be offered with the H5X five-seater model, while the more powerful unit will power the 7-seater H7X. This model is expected to get a ZF-sourced 9-speed automatic gearbox.
