Tata Buzzard Sport Model is the Global-Spec Harrier SUV

Tata Harrier will be sold as the Buzzard Sport in the international markets.

Tata Motors has unveiled 4 all-new models – Buzzard, Altroz, Altroz EV and H2X mini SUV concept at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Adding to it, the company has also showcased the new Buzzard SPORT Geneva Edition. This is basically the International-spec Harrier 5-seater premium SUV.

The Tata Buzzard Sport variant looks largely identical to the Harrier on sale in India, except for the new alloy wheels. It features an all-new 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The SUV will be built on the OMEGA (Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced) platform, which is sourced from Land Rover’s D8 Architecture.

For people not in the know, Toyota is also selling an SUV with Harrier nameplate in the global model. This could be the reason behind opting for a new nameplate for the 5-seater SUV. The Tata Buzzard Sport is powered by a 2.0-litre KRYOTEC diesel engine that is claimed to offer optimal balance between power and fuel economy. While powering the Harrier, this SUV churns out 140bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. The SUV offers multi-drive modes – Engine Drive Modes (Eco, City, Sport) coupled to the ESP Terrain Response Modes (Normal, Rough and Wet). The Tata Buzzard Sport features 8.8-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, which will be compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.  Also See – Tata H2X mini SUV launch timeline

Talking about the Tata Buzzard, it is basically the seven-seater version of the Harrier SUV. This model is around 64mm longer than the regular model, though the wheelbase remains same at 2,741mm. The SUV is powered by the same 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that is likely to produce around 170bhp and 350Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a Hyundai-sourced 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
