Korean automaker, Hyundai has revealed the next-generation Sonata luxurious sedan. Featuring a sporty four-door-coupe look, the new Hyundai Sonata takes design inspiration from the award-winning Le Fil Rouge concept that debuted at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. The new 2020 Hyundai Sonata will have a public premiere at the 2019 New York Motor Show in April.

The 2020 Hyundai Sonata has a much sportier look than its predecessor, with a 30 mm lower height and a width extended by 25 mm. Its wheelbase is enlarged by 35 mm, and its whole length by 45 mm. Hyundai said that the new Sonata’s frontal section is defined by two elements – a bold voluminous shape evoking a smooth sphere and a cleanly demarcated hood.

The 2010 Hyundai Sonata gets the digital pulse cascading grille and Hyundai’s first Hidden Lighting lamps with daytime running lights.  The Hidden Lighting Lamps appear to be of a chromic material when switched off and become dramatically lit when turned on. The sedan’s light architecture was initially revealed through Hyundai’s HDC-2 concept car at the Busan Motor Show in June last year.

The side profile of the new Sonata get strong lines that seamlessly link with the windows and daytime running lights. The all-new Hyundai Sonata has a wide, layered long hood, a very low stance and a sleek roofline along with the ultra-wide taillights.

The interior of the new Sonata is way modern and premium than the outgoing car. The company claims that the Sonata’s cabin design is inspired by the Stealth aircraft, featuring wing shaped instrument panel. It features satin chrome accents, ambient lighting and leather upholstery.

Hyundai claims that it is not a big fan of large displays, which can be distracting. The designers have the two displays together on the 2020 Sonata, using a unique S curve. These displays are seamless, with no parting lines, and have capacitive touch buttons. The addition of shift-by-wire transmission controls has allowed the Korean automaker to free up space, making the Sonata’s cabin more practical and roomier.
