Tata Altroz India Launch Postponed To Early 2020
The India launch of the Tata Altroz premium hatchback has been postponed to early next year. Earlier, the carmaker was planning to bring it with BS4-compliant engines during 2019 festive season. On coming April 2020, the automobile industry will move from BS4 to BS6 emission norms. Therefore, Tata has decided to launch the Altroz with BS6-ready engines.
While official engine details of the Tata Altroz are yet to be revealed by the carmaker, it’s likely to come with three powertrain options. The lineup might include two petrol engines – the Tiago’s 85bhp, 1.2L, 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated and the Nexon’s 102bhp, 1.2L, 3-cylinder turbocharged unit.
The diesel version of the Altroz could be equipped with a 90bhp, 1.5L, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, sourced from the Nexon. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a dual-clutch automatic unit. Read – Tata Altroz Vs Maruti Baleno
Similar to Tata’s new breed cars, the Tata Altroz will be packed with lots of comfort goodies. It will get a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

In the premium hatchback space, the all-new Tata Altroz will face challenge from cars like Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20 and Toyota Glanza. Prices of the new Tata hatchback are expected to fall in the range of Rs 5 lakh – Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom).
