Tata Motors will launch the long-awaited Altroz premium hatchback in the second half of 2019. The new model has recently debuted at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. First previewed as the 45X concept in 2018, the Tata Altroz will take on the likes of Maruti Baleno, Hyundai i20 and Honda Jazz. First model on ALFA platform

It is the first Tata to be based on the new ALFA (Agile, Lightweight, Flexible and Advanced) platform, which will also underpin the H2X micro SUV. This platform is versatile enough to accommodate different body styles and multiple powertrains including petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric.

IMPACT 2.0 DESIGN

Dimensions

The Altroz hatchback sits below 4 meter in length, measuring 3,998mm in length, 1,754mm in width and 1,505mm in height. The hatchback rides on a wheelbase of 2,501mm.

Only Petrol

The Tata Altroz is most likely to arrive in petrol avatar only. It is powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that also powers the Nexon. The company has de-tuned this engine to produce 100.5bhp of power and 140Nm of torque. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox.

4 Airbags

The Altrozz’s top-end model will be equipped with 4 airbags, cruise control, rear parking camera vehicle stability control and others. Smallest Wheelbase

The hatchback dimensions are on a par with direct rivals. However, the Altroz has the smallest wheelbase in its category. It comes with a wheelbase of 2,501mm, while the Baleno and Elite i20 offers 2520mm and 2,570mm wheelbase respectively.

Rear door handle on C-pillar

The Altroz comes with stylish profile and features quite a few exciting design elements. The rear door handles are integrated on the C-pillar, which is very similar to the one offered in the new Swift hatchback.

Altroz EV with 250-300km range

The Tata Altroz hatchback will also receive an all-electric version in 2020. This model was showcased alongside regular car at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The company claims that this model will come with a range of around 250-300km on a single charge.
