Tata Altroz Automatic (DCT) In The Works; First For The Brand
Tata Altroz premium hatchback is all set to hit Indian roads in February, 2020. Official bookings of the vehicle have been commenced from today (4th December, 2019). Ahead of its launch, the carmaker has revealed engine and feature details of the hatchback.
The Tata Altroz will come with a 1.2L, 3-cylinder petrol and a 1.5L, 4-cylinder diesel engines paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Speaking to Autocar, Mayank Pareek, President, Passenger Vehicles, Tata Motors has revealed that the company will introduce the dual-clutch transmission (DCT) on the Altroz hatchback lineup in near future. The company will source a 7-speed DT-1 dual-clutch transmission from Punch Powertrain. Designed for the compact vehicles (with torque of up to 200Nm), the Punch-sourced DTC gearbox will be relatively more affordable than the conventional dual-clutch or torque converter units.
The home-grown carmaker has equipped the Altroz with several comfort and connectivity features such as a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch MID, Harman sourced audio system with 4 speakers and 2 tweeters, steering mounted controls, voice commands, power windows, ambient lightings, 4-way adjustable driver seat and many more. The Tata Altroz will take head-to-head against the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo GT TSI. Prices of the new Tata premium hatchback will be between Rs 5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom).
