The British luxury SUV manufacturer, Land Rover has finally introduced its first convertible SUV in the Indian market. Called the Range Rover Evoque Convertible, the SUV is available in the fully-loaded HSE Dynamic variant priced at Rs 69.53 lakh (ex-showroom, India). First previewed at the 2015 Los Angeles Motor Show, the Range Rover Evoque Convertible is around Rs 9.54 lakh more expensive than the regular Evoque HSE Dynamic variant that costs Rs 59.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
At the heart of the Range Rover Evoque Convertible is a 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol engine sourced from the Range Rover Velar. This motor pushes out a maximum power output of 240bhp and a peak torque of 340Nm. The convertible SUV will come with a 9-speed automatic transmission delivering power to the all-four-wheels (AWD). Based on the reinforced monocoque chassis, Range Rover Evoque Convertible offers a “four-seat interior, the new-generation Land Rover InControl TouchPro infotainment system and unrivalled all-terrain capability”. It has fabric convertible roof system with an electrically operated speed of 20 seconds when the vehicle is running at speed up to 48kmph. The reinforced door panels compliment its soft top.
At the front end, the Range Rover Evoque Convertible features adaptive LED headlamps, a deeper and more aggressive front bumper with larger air intakes, LED fog lamps, body-coloured side skirts. Other highlights include dual-tone (Orange & Black) A-pillars, radiator grille, ORVMs with black treatment and wheel arch cladding. With respect to dimensions, the Evoque Convertible measures slightly shorter and less wide and tall than the regular model. Though, the wheelbase remains unchanged – i.e. 2,660mm. The overall length, width and height of the convertible measure 4,300mm, 1,900mm and 1,609mm respectively. It offers a cargo space of over 250-litres. Compared to the conventional convertibles, the interior of the Range Rover Evoque Convertible is more premium and feature-loaded. It gets fixed twin rear seats with revised quarter trim speakers and a central bolster. The HSE Dynamic variant gets an optional 14-way climate seat, a perforated mid-section Oxford leather seat finished with tailored center-ribbed section in Ebony/Ebony and Lunar/Ivory colour combinations.
Other key features include InControl TouchPro system with a 10.2-inch touchscreen, advanced satellite navigation system, parking cameras, rear-seat climate control settings, optional InControl Wi-Fi hotspot and a premium 12-speaker, 660W surround-sound Meridian audio system with dual-channel subwoofer, amplifier with advanced digital processing.
