The next-gen Hyundai Tucson and Creta will have bigger dimensions to accommodate a third row of seats

We informed you earlier that Hyundai will launch the next-gen Creta SUV in the Indian market in 2020-21. What’s interesting is that the next model will be offered in both 5 and 7-seat layouts. According to the latest media report, Hyundai has also started working on the next-gen Hyundai Tucson which is slated to make its global debut in 2021. Before next-gen Tucson, India will receive the mid-life facelift model which is already on sale in select international markets.

The report further suggests that the next-gen Tucson will have bigger dimensions including longer wheelbase to accommodate a third row of seats. While the next-gen Tucson for India will only come as a 7-seater, the global model will be offered in both five- and seven-seat options.

The next-gen Hyundai Creta, codenamed SU2, will also grow in size to accommodate third row of seats. The overall size will be closer to the current Tucson and will be expensive than the current gen car. In order to accommodate next Creta and avoid any sort of cannibalization, Hyundai will make next Tucson bigger and upmarket. Hyundai believes that SUVs above 20 lakhs would require 3rd row of seats to get successful. The next-gen Tucson will take on the likes of Skoda Kodiaq and the new Honda CR-V, both of which offered with an extra row of seats. You May Also Like – New Hyundai Santro | Hyundai Styx

This suggests that Hyundai has no plans of launching the new-gen Santa Fe in the Indian market. In fact, the next Tucson will replace the Santa Fe. The next model will be luxurious and will get several high end comfort and convenience features. It will have plush ‘captain’ seats, head-up display, wireless charging and advanced telematics. The next model will have BS-VI compliant petrol and diesel engines.
