Mahindra Rexton Launch Delayed By A Few Days

Mahindra Rexton Spied Testing (1)

The Mahindra Rexton will be 55mm longer and 105mm wider than the Toyota Fortuner.

Mahindra’s all-new premium SUV – the Rexton – was reported to go on sale in India on October 9, 2018. However, the carmaker has now postponed its launch by a few days. The reason behind this move is the launch of the new Honda CR-V and new Hyundai Santro’s media unveiling event, which are scheduled to happen on the same date (9th October).

The home-grown carmaker has already begun shipping the Mahindra Rexton via CKD route to the Indian market. In the premium fully-fledged SUV space, the new Mahindra 7-seater SUV will gun up straight against the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. In terms of pricing, however, it is likely to undercut both of its competitors.

Interestingly, the Mahindra Rexton will be longer (by 55mm) and wider (by 105mm) than the Fortuner. While the former measures 4850mm in length and 1960mm in width, the latter is 4795mm long and 1855mm wide. Though, the Fortuner is 35mm taller than the Rexton that measures 1800mm in height. Read – Upcoming Mahindra Cars In India

Under the hood, the Mahindra Rexton will carry a 2.2L, e-XDi220 LET turbocharged diesel engine with two gearbox options – a 6-speed manual and a Mercedes-Benz-sourced 7-speed automatic unit. The oil burner delivers power worth 184.4bhp (187PS) against a peak torque of 400Nm (with manual transmission) and 420Nm (with automatic gearbox). The SUV will come with a part-time 4WD (four-wheel-drive) system. Pictures: Mahindra TUV Stinger Convertible SUV

The new Rexton SUV is the company’s first product to be based on the quad-frame body frame that includes 63% 1.5Gpa-grade high-strength steel, thus making more robust and safer than its old model. The India-spec version will be loaded with several advanced safety features such as nine airbags, ABS with EBD, electric parking brake, hill descent control, traction control, active roll-over protection, ESC, advanced emergency braking and many more. Read – Mahindra Thar, Scorpio & XUV500 To Get Generation Change
