New Maruti Vitara Brezza Petrol Production Begins – Report
India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki is readying a wide range of cars for the Indian market. The company is also preparing the facelift version of the popular Vitara Brezza, which has already been spotted testing on the Indian roads. The updated model will receive subtle design changes and better equipped cabin; though the biggest change will be made under the hood.
The outgoing Maruti Vitara Brezza is only available in diesel avatar, which is also its biggest negative during the time of rising petrol demand. The updated model will be equipped with a petrol engine option for the first time. A new media report claims that the production of the Maruti Vitara Brezza petrol has already been commenced. The SUV could be launched in the market in the next few weeks.
The Maruti Vitara Brezza is currently available with a 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine that is capable of producing 89bhp and 200Nm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit. This Fiat-sourced engine won’t be upgraded to meet the upcoming BSVI emission norms and will be phased out post April 2020.
The Brezza petrol will be powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated engine with dual-battery Suzuki’s mild hybrid system. This engine currently powers the Ertiga, XL6 and the Ciaz. It is capable of producing 103.5bhp of power and 138Nm of torque. Transmission choices are likely to include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic.
It is expected that the updated Maruti Vitara Brezza will receive subtle design changes in the form of revised grille, LED DRLs, new horizontal wraparound LED tail-lamps, updated chrome boot applique and new alloys. The cabin will receive the brand’s new Studio SmartPlay infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. It will also get cruise control and panoramic sunroof.
