While the Indian automobile industry witnessed a sales slowdown in the last month, Maruti Suzuki managed to register a marginal growth of 0.9 per cent. In February 2019, the Indo-Japanese carmaker recorded domestic sales of 139,100 units as opposed to 137,900 units of the same month last year. Besides the Alto, Swift and Baleno, the new-generation Maruti Ertiga and WagonR emerged as major sales contributors.

According to a latest media report, the new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga (petrol) commands a waiting period up to 24 weeks. The diesel version of the MPV has a waiting period up to 22 weeks. On the other hand, the waiting period of the new Maruti WagonR 2019 is between 4 to 6 weeks (depend on the variant).

In February 2019, Maruti Suzuki managed to sell 15661 units of the new WagonR as against 14029 units of the same month previous year. The hatchback registered a growth of 12 per cent. The new-generation Maruti Ertiga and WagonR are based on Suzuki’s new Heartect platform, making them lighter, safer and more efficient than before.  Prices of the Ertiga petrol start from Rs 7.44 lakh and go up to Rs 9.95 lakh. The diesel variants of the MPV are priced in the range of Rs 8.84 lakh – Rs 10.90 lakh. The new Maruti WagonR, on the other hand, is available at a starting price of Rs 4.19 lakh.
