New Maruti Ertiga Scores 3 Stars – NCAP Crash Test

The second-generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has been subjected to the Global New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP) crash test and managed to score a 3 stars safety rating. The MPV scored 3 star safety rating in both adult and child occupant protection. The bodyshell integrity and footwell area of the vehicle were rated as unstable. As per the global safety watchdog, the overall score of the Maruti Ertiga can be improved with minor changes. During the crash test, the vehicle showed pedal displacement that might cause injury to the lower legs of the driver.

The Maruti Ertiga offers seat belt reminder for driver and passenger as standard fitment. During the crash test, the passenger pretensioner of the MPV failed to work properly. The 3 old year child seat, which was installed forward facing with ISOFIX and top tether, prevented excessive forward movement and offered good protection for the head n fair protection to the chest. On the other hand, the 18 month old CRS (Child Restraint System) that was fitted with ISOFIX and top tether forward facing showed poor head and chest protection.

The new-generation Maruti Ertiga was launched in November last year and it received a new 1.5L diesel engine in April, 2019.
