Datsun RediGO crash test

In the latest crash tests under #SaferCarsForIndia campaign, Datsun Redi-GO hatchback has scored a poor one-star safety rating in the Global NCAP crash test. Global NCAP also crash tested the new Wagon R, Santro and the Ertiga, scoring 2 stars, 2 stars and 3 stars respectively.

Global NCAP tested the entry-level RediGO, which is equipped with driver-side airbag and ABS as standard. Receiving just 1 star for adult occupant protection, the rediGo’s bodyshell and footwell was rated ‘unstable’. The head and neck protection was found good; however, the driver’s chest area protection is rated as poor. Also See – Crash Test Ratings of Wagon R | Hyundai Santro

For child occupant protection, the Datsun rediGO scored 2 star rating. The seatbelts at the back were unable to stop child seat movement under the collision, which impacted the head of 3-year-old and 18-month-old dummy’s.

The entry-level car also misses out on the ISOFIX child seat mounts and a three-point middle seatbelt, which also contributed to its low ratings. The cars were tested in early 2019, which misses out on seatbelt reminder. Datsun has updated the rediGO to meet the new safety norms. Now, the hatch gets driver-side airbag, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, seatbelt reminder and a speed alert system as standard.
