2020 Hyundai i20 Changes

Korean automaker, Hyundai is readying the N Line performance oriented versions of its popular cars including the Elantra 2021. The company will soon introduce the new-gen i20 hatchback in India as well as in global markets. What’s interesting is that the new Hyundai i20 will also receive the performance oriented N variant.

Hyundai has already completed the durability tests of the i20 N Sports version. The new model has been spotted testing multiple times on the German Nurburgring circuit. While the overall profile is similar to the regular model, it gets several new design highlights including newly designed and larger wheels, aerodynamic package and spoiler on the rear cover.

Hyundai engineers will have also made changes to the steering and suspension set-up of the hatchback. The major highlight of the new i20 N will be the 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine. This engine is widely used by Hyundai and Kia Motors, and is capable of producing around 204bhp of power and 265Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.

The new Hyundai i20 N variant will go on sale in the European market by the end of this year or early 2021. It will directly rival the likes of the Volkswagen Polo GTI and the Ford Fiesta ST. It is expected that Hyundai is considering introducing the N-Line performance brand in the Indian market. The upcoming Hyundai i20 N could also make its way to our market.

The next-gen Hyundai i20 hatchback will be launched in the Indian market before Diwali, around September 2020. The new model will receive 2 new engines – a 118bhp, 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol and a 99bhp, 1.5-litre turbo-diesel. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual, a 7-speed DCT with petrol and a 6-speed torque convertor AT with diesel.
