Maruti Gypsy 5-Door

It is no secret that Maruti Suzuki is readying the next-gen Gypsy SUV, which will be the re-badged Suzuki Jimny. The company had showcased the 3-door Jimny mini off-roader at the 2020 Auto Expo; however, India will receive the 5-door version of the SUV. The production of the new Jimny for export markets is expected to commence soon at the Sanand based plant in Gujarat.

The India-spec new-gen Suzuki Jimny or Gypsy is scheduled to be launched in the first half of 2021. For our market, Maruti Suzuki will produce the 5-door version of the Jimny. A standard 3-door Suzuki Jimny has been digitally rendered, which shows the possible design of the 2021 Maruti Gypsy.

The new 2021 Maruti Gypsy 5-Door will ride on a longer wheelbase and is likely to measure under 4 meters in length. This will help the automaker to price the new model competitively. The Maruti Gypsy 5-door will offer larger cabin and addition of rear doors will make this SUV more suitable for the family buyers. Design of the new model will be retained from the 3-door model; except for the subtle changes to keep things fresh in the market.

The upcoming off-roader will also receive modern comfort and convenience features like touchscreen infotainment system, air-conditioning, keyless entry, engine start-stop button, and automatic headlamps. For passengers’ safety and security, the SUV gets dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, ESP, forward braking assist and hill start assist features. The upcoming Maruti Gypsy off-roader will receive a BSVI compliant 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine producing 103bhp and 138Nm of torque. For transmission duties, the off-road SUV will get 5-speed manual as well as a 4-speed torque convertor automatic. It will come with Suzuki’s advanced 4X4 – AllGrip system.
