Powerful Tata Altroz Turbo Variant Launching Soon

Tata Motors is readying a wide range of new cars and SUVs for the domestic market. The company will introduce the Gravitas 7-seater SUV before Diwali this year, which will be followed by the Tata HBX based micro SUV in early 2021. The company had launched the Altroz premium hatchback in January 2020. A new media report claims that the performance oriented version of the hatchback will be launched in the next few months.

The report claims that the hatchback will receive a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that is capable of producing 99bhp of power and 141Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to include a 5-speed manual and a dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Production of the Tata Altroz Turbo variant is expected to commence after the lockdown is lifted.

Tata Motors had showcased the Altroz premium hatchback with the 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine at the Geneva International Motor Show. It is expected that the same engine will be introduced with the Turbo variant. We informed you earlier that Tata is also developing a dual-clutch automatic transmission, which will be offered with the Altroz and the Nexon compact SUV.

The Tata Altroz is currently available with 2 engine options – a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that is capable of producing 85bhp of power at 6,000rpm and 113Nm of torque at 3,300rpm. The hatchback is also available with a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that churns out 89bhp at 4,000rpm and 200Nm of torque at 1,250-3,000 rpm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox.
