New Generation Mahindra Scorpio Might Look Like This?
The new-generation Mahindra Scorpio will launch sometime in 2020.
Mahindra & Mahindra has confirmed that it’s working on new-generation models of its popular SUVs – Scorpio, XUV500 and Thar. The updated Thar and Scorpio will be based on the slightly modified body-on-ladder frame and meet the new crash test and safety standards. The carmaker will also offer multiple powertrains on the new models including turbocharged petrol and diesel units, developed jointly by Mahindra and Ssangyong.
While the launch of the new-generation Mahindra Scorpio will happen sometime in 2020, a digital rendering of the SUV has surfaced on the web. The rendered picture shows that the new Mahindra Scorpio 2020 will receive comprehensive cosmetic upgrades, especially at the front end.
Upfront, the new Mahindra Scorpio 2020 features a new six-slatted grille, new rectangular headlamps with integrated U-shaped LED DRLs (daytime running lights), dual-tone sculpted bumper with wide air intake, silver skid plate, LED fog lamps assembly and pronounced bonnet with a large air scoop. The side profile is adorned by sharply raked A-pillar, flattened roof with roof rails and flared wheel arches with large alloy wheels. The black plastic cladding further enhances its macho looks. Interestingly, the new Mahindra Scorpio 2020 will be designed by Mahindra’s owned designed team and the Italian design house Pininfarina. That means, the original new-generation model will surely be premium and sportier than the current one.
If reports are to be believed, the new Scorpio might make use of a new BSVI-ready 2.0L turbocharged diesel engine. The SUV’s updated model might also receive a newly-developed 2.0L turbocharged petrol powertrain, developed jointly by Mahindra and SsangYong. However, there is no official word on the same.
