MG Hector Plus To Challenge Toyota Innova Crysta

MG Hector Plus - Toyota Innova Crysta

MG Hector Plus will be the next launch from the British carmaker in the country. The three-row SUV was recently caught on camera alongside the Toyota Innova Crysta during a benchmark testing. That said, the Hector Plus will be positioned as an alternative to the top-end variants (VX and ZX 7-seater) of the Innova Crysta that cost Rs 20.89 lakh and Rs 22.43 lakh respectively. In fact, MG’s three-row SUV will be around Rs 3 lakh more affordable than Toyota’s top-selling MPV.

Will the Hector Plus crack the Innova Crysta’s market? In order to do so, the British carmaker will provide a standard warranty of 5 year/unlimited kilometer along with MG Shield package. The latter one includes roadside assistance packages, 5 free services and an assured buyback plan. In terms of pricing, the MG Hector Plus will also challenge the Mahindra XUV500 and the upcoming Tata Gravitas.

Engine setup of the MG Hector Plus will be carried over from the Hector 5-seater. It will include a 143bhp, 1.5L turbo petrol, a 1.5L petrol with 48V mild hybrid system and a 170bhp, 2.0L diesel. Compared to the Toyota Innova Crysta 2.4L diesel motor that’s good enough for 150bhp and 343Nm, the Hector Plus diesel will be more powerful and torqueier. MG’s three-row SUV will come with two gearbox options – a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic. Read – 10 Facts About MG Gloster 7-Seater SUV

Feature-wise, the Hector Plus will have more goodies to offer than the Innova Crysta. Some of its key features will include a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, a 10.4-inch vertical infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, connected technology, Wi-Fi connectivity, automatic climate control and more. Though, the comfort quotient of the Toyota Innova Crysta will be higher than the MG Hector Plus.

While its 6-seater version will have third row sets with 50:50 split ratio, the 7-seater model will offer 60:40 split bench seas. The three-row SUV measures 4695mm in length, thus making it 40mm longer than the 5-seater Hector (which is 4655mm long). Its width (1835mm) and height (1760mm); however, remain unchanged. The model has a wheelbase of 2750mm and a ground clearance of 198mm. Read – 5 Things To Know About MG 360M (Ertiga Rival)
