Launched in March 2016, the Maruti Vitara Brezza has now completed a year in the Indian market.
Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, the top-selling urban compact SUV from the Indo-Japanese carmaker, has achieved one lakh cumulative sales milestone in India. The attributes that have worked in the favour of the vehicle are its sporty styling, a feature-rich cabin and efficient engine. Launched in March 2016, the Maruti Vitara Brezza has now completed a year in the Indian market.
The Vitara Brezza is India’s most awarded compact SUV that bagged several Car of the Year awards including the prestigious 2017 ICOTY (Indian Care of the Year Award). Designed and developed for the Indian market, the Maruti Vitara Brezza is the country’s first car to receive offset and side impact crash tests certificate. This crash test will be mandatory in India from October 2017.
Ever since its launch, the Vitara Brezza has been one of the major contributors to the company sales in the domestic market. In January 2017, the compact SUV registered 2 lakh bookings that result a high waiting period (6-7 months). The Indo-Japanese has managed to sell 8,000 – 10,000 units of the Brezza on monthly basis. Considering the high demand, the company is planning to bring-in the petrol derivative of the compact SUV in April 2017.
Currently, the Vitara Brezza comes with the tried & tested 1.3-litre Multijet diesel engine matched to a 5-speed manual transmission. This motor belts out a maximum power of 89bhp at 4,000rpm and 200Nm at 2,000rpm. Maruti Suzuki claims that the Brezza is more frugal than most of its rivals in India.
