The Maruti Vitara Brezza is this year’s most successful model from the Indo-Japanese carmaker. In fact, the sub-compact SUV had secured its place among the top 10 selling passenger vehicles in India within just three months of its arrival. Now, the Maruti Vitara Brezza has bagged the most prestigious ‘Indian Car of the Year’ 2017 (ICOTY) award.
Other cars in the race were Ford Endeavour, Toyota Innova Crysta, Toyota Fortuner, Hyundai Elantra, Tata Tiago, etc. Interestingly, it was Hyundai India that was winning this award from 2014. While the Hyundai Creta won 2016 ICOTY award, the Hyundai Elite i20 and Grand i10 bagged it in year 2015 and 2014 respectively.
Talking about the sales figures, the Maruti Vitara Brezza registered sales over 60,000 units till October 2016. The car breached the 10,000 sales market for the first time in October. A month later, ie in November 2016, the total number of bookings for the Brezza crossed 1.72 lakh mark. The high demand of the Vitara Brezza has proportionally increased its waiting period up to six to ten month (depending on the variants & region). Coming to the car, the Maruti Vitara Brezza has been made available in three trim levels – LDi, VDi and ZDi – priced between Rs 7.19 lakh – Rs 9.88 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Under the hood, the compact SUV features a 1.3-litre DDIS diesel engine churning out 89bhp with 200Nm of torque. Transmission on offer is a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Indo-Japanese carmaker will soon introduce the petrol version of the Vitara Brezza.
