Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Electric Could Be A Possibility
Maruti Suzuki India has already confirmed that it will foray into electric vehicle segment with the WagonR EV. The electric iteration of the hatchback was initially salted to launch early 2020, but it has been pushed back. According to a latest media report, the Maruti Ertiga EV could be the second electric model from the Indo-Japanese carmaker in India. The Maruti Ertiga electric could be retailed under a new brand. Currently, the company is studying the feasibility of the electric version of the MPV along with the Ciaz electric mid-size sedan. More details on the products are likely to be revealed in near future.
Talking about the Maruti WagonR EV, the electric hatchback is likely to deliver a range over 130km. It will support the standard AC charging as well as the DC fast charging. The new Maruti Suzuki electric cars will come under the government’s FAME 2 (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric) vehicles scheme and will also be beneficiaries of the state subsidies. The Maruti WagonR electric is estimated to cost below Rs 7 lakh (ex-showroom).
