Mahidnra XUV300 Compact SUV

Mahindra XUV300 will challenge the dominance of Maruti Vitara Brezza and Tata Nexon in the sub-4 meter space.

Mahindra & Mahindra has officially announced that the brand’s upcoming sub-4 meter SUV will be called the ‘Mahindra XUV300 ‘. With XUV300 as the name for the sub-4 meter SUV, the company aims to give an aspirational link to its bigger and popular SUV – XUV500. The homegrown automaker has also released a series of images of the SUV. It is built on the SsangYong’s X100 platform that also underpins the global Tivoli SUV. Mahindra claims that the small SUV has been designed and engineered to offer the best-in-class ride and performance.

The Mahindra XUV300 has been designed and developed by Mahindra engineers with the help of SsangYong and Pininfarina, the Italian design house owned by Mahindra & Mahindra. Upon its launch, the small SUV will directly challenge the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and the upcoming Hyundai STYX/Leonis. The SUV is scheduled to be launched in the first quarter of 2019, most probably in January.

The SUV shares most of the body panels and design highlights from the global Tivoli, though it has Mahindra’s familiar face. While the Tivoli is 4.1meter in length, the Mahindra small SUV sits right under 4 meter in length to take tax benefits on sub-4 meter cars and smaller capacity engines. Mahindra claims that the SUV design is inspired from the Cheetah, which we have already seen on the bigger XUV500. The squarish front face gives it a rugged profile, which accommodates wider grille with vertical chromed slats, L-shaped LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights and massive bumper with wider air-dams and fog lamp housing. Read – Mahindra XUV300 – 5 Facts You Should Know

On the sides, the Mahindra XUV300 SUV gets strong beltline that runs across the length to meet the tail. Sharing similarities with Tivoli, the SUV gets more boxy profile and a straighter roofline. The black plastic cladding is offered on the window lines and lower section all-around the SUV. The wheel arches are fitted to stylish designed machine-cut alloy wheels. The rear too looks sporty, thanks to wraparound tail-lamp assembly, massive bumper, black cladding on the lower bumper and roof-mounted spoiler with stop-light.
