Mahindra XUV300 compact SUV is the brand’s 3rd model based on the monocoque chassis.

Mahindra has finally launched the long-awaited XUV300 compact SUV in the country. It is available in 3 trim levels – W4, W6 and W8 – in petrol and diesel guise. The SUV is priced in the range of Rs 7.90 lakh and Rs 10.80 lakh (ex-showroom). The company is also offering an optional trim, which will cost an additional Rs 1.19 lakh. It is the brand’s 3rd all-new model based on the monocoque chassis. It will rival the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and Ford EcoSport. SsangYong Tivoli’s Connection!

The XUV300 is the brand’s second all-new model based on the SsangYong’s platform. It is built on the re-engineered X100 platform that also underpins the Tivoli compact SUV. While Tivoli is 4.1 meters in length, the XUV300 sits under 4 meter. Mahindra engineers have altered the platform to achieve sub-4 meter length without compromising on the interior space and wheelbase.

Most powerful In Its Category

It is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine that also powers the Marazzo. While powering the MPV, this engine produces 121bhp and 300Nm of torque. However, Mahindra engineers have tuned this engine to suit the needs of a smaller UV. This engine offers 115bhp of power and 300Nm of torque, which makes the XUV300 the most powerful in its category.

Segment-leading features

The XUV300 is equipped with a range of segment-leading features, which should give it a competitive edge. It comes equipped with factory-fitted electric sunroof, leather seats, 7 airbags, all-4 disc brakes, dual-zone climate control with rear AC vents, front and rear parking sensors etc.

New Petrol Engine

With this SUV, Mahindra debut’s the brand all-new 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine. This engine is co-developed by Mahindra and SsangYong and will power a range of new models. While powering the XUV300, the new turbo unit offers an impressive 110bhp of power and the segment-best 200Nm of torque.

7-seat model is also in the works

The XUV300 is a sub-4 meter SUV, which offers seat for 5 adults. What’s interesting is that Mahindra is also working on a 7-seater model on this platform, which will arrive in early 2020. The 7-seater model will sit above 4 meter in length and will rival the next-gen Hyundai Creta and Tata Harrier.

Not just a 7-seater model, Mahindra has confirmed that an all-electric version of the XUV300 – codenamed S210 – is in development. The electric model will arrive in the second half of 2020.
