Mahindra Inferno & Nissan Terra – 2 New Toyota Fortuner Rivals Launching In India

These 2 SUVs will challenge the dominance of Toyota Fortuner in the 7-seater premium SUV category

Toyota Fortuner has been the best seller when it comes to 7-seater premium SUVs. The new generation model, which was launched in late 2016, will receive a mid-life facelift in late 2019 or early 2020. This segment has witnessed a couple of new launches in the form of Skoda Kodiaq and Isuzu MU-X. However, the major challenge for the Fortuner will come from these 2 upcoming 7-seater SUVs –

Mahindra Inferno

India’s leading UV maker, Mahindra will soon enter into the 7-seater premium SUV category. The company will launch the global SsangYong Rexton based SUV – codenamed Y400 – on November 19, 2018. Likely to be called the Mahindra Inferno, the 7-seater SUV is most likely to undercut the prices of Fortuner by up to Rs 4 lakh. The SUV will receive Mahindra-like front face, but the interior and overall design will remain similar to the global Rexton. Aggressive pricing and premium interiors could bring more buyers to Mahindra dealerships. It will be powered by a 2.2-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that is capable of producing 187bhp of power and 420Nm of torque. It will be come with a 7-speed automatic gearbox, supported by a part-time 4WD drivetrain system.
