Made-In-India Citroen Compact SUV To Be Priced at Rs 7 Lakh – Report

The new Citroen compact SUV will hit Indian roads in 2021.

Citroen, a part of the PSA Group, is one of the global automakers that’s ready to mark its entry in the Indian market. The first product from the French carmaker will be the Citroen C5 Aircross SUV, which is set to hit roads in 2020. The vehicle will be locally assembled at Groupe PSA’s Hosur plant in Tamil Nadu with about 70 percent of local components.

The global carmaker aims to target wider audience with its second product that will be a compact SUV. According to a fresh media report, Citroen will achieve 90-95 percent localisation level for its second product. That means, it will be priced quite competitive.

The report further claims that the prices of the new Citroen compact SUV will start from Rs 7 lakh (ex-showroom) and it will see a release sometime in 2021. Design and styling of the new Citroen compact SUV will be inspired by the C3 Aircross. Engine options will include a naturally aspirated 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol and a 1.5 diesel motor. The gasoline unit will be tuned for generating two power outputs 83bhp and 110bhp.

The oil burner, sourced from the Citroen DV5, is co-developed by PSA Group and Ford and powers small cars in the company’s product lineup. The new Citroen compact SUV will use a locally developed 6-speed manual gearbox. The model lineup might also get an automatic transmission.
