Tata Safari EV Launch Timeline & Expected Features

Tata Motors’s micro-market strategy has proven successful, making the carmaker a front runner in the EV segment in India. With aim to further strengthen its EV market, the company plans to launch 10 EVs across passenger vehicle and commercial segments overs the next five years. Talking about Tata’s 2024 product plans, the company has already introduced the Punch EV, which will soon be followed by the all-new Tata Curvv EV. The plan also outlines the Tata Harrier and Safari EV, which are expected to arrive during 2024 festive season and early 2025, respectively.

The Tata Safari EV, which is in its initial testing phase, was recently caught on camera wearing heavy camouflage. After the Punch EV and Harrier EV, it will be third Tata SUV to underpin the brand’s new Acti.ev platform. Design of the three-row electric SUV will be largely similar to the ICE-powered Safari. Though, a few EV-specific cosmetic changes will be made to the vehicle such as a closed-off grille, differently designed alloy wheels and EV badges.

Interior will share a strong resemblance with the regular Safari. The electric SUV will come with a 4-spoke steering with an illuminated ‘Tata logo’ and dashboard design as we have seen in the ICE version. Though, the new Tata Safari EV is likely to come with a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated front and rear seats, dual zone AC and a panoramic sunroof. For safety provision, the three-row EV will have a 360 degree camera with blind spot monitor, ADAS tech, electronic stability control and 7 airbags.

The Tata Safari EV range is likely to be around 500km. However, its powertrain details are still under the wraps. With estimated starting price of Rs 32 lakh, this electric SUV will challenge EVs such as BYD Atto 3, MG ZS EV and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki eVX and Hyundai Creta EV.
