Kia QYi Subcompact SUV India Launch In August, 2020
A few days back, we have seen first spy pictures of the upcoming Kia QYi (codename) subcompact SUV. A latest report claims that the vehicle will go on sale in August, 2020. The Korean carmaker might showcase the subcompact SUV in its concept avatar at the 2020 Auto Expo alongside the Kia Carnival luxury MPV.
The all-new Kia QYi will share its platform and engine with the Hyudnai Venue. The SUV will source its power from the naturally-aspirated 1.2L petrol engine pushing out power worth 82bhp. A 1.0L, 3-cylinder direct-injection turbocharged petrol motor will also be on offer. It will deliver power worth 118bhp against 172Nm of torque.
While the 1.2L gasoline unit will come with a 5-speed manual gearbox, the 1.0L motor can be had either with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed DCT automatic unit. The Kia QYi will also borrow the 1.5L, 4-cylinder diesel powertrain from the Kia Seltos. Though, it will be detuned for generating power around 90bhp. The diesel version of the subcompact SUV will have a 6-speed manual gearbox to perform transmission duties.
Most of the design bits are likely to be sourced from the Kia Seltos. It will carry imposing stance with LED headlamps, a wider tigernose grille, silver roof rails and LED taillamps. Feature-wise, the Kia QYi might get UVO Connect suite similar to the Seltos along with a floating infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
