The Kia Seltos 5-seater premium SUV will be launched in India in the second half of 2019
The much-awaited Kia Seltos 5-seater premium SUV has finally been unveiled in India. It is basically the production version of the SP2i concept, which was unveiled at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. Being the first product from the Korean brand in India, the Seltos will enter into the highly competitive compact SUV space with challengers like Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks and the Renault Duster. The Seltos will be manufactured for different countries at two of Kia’s manufacturing facilities – Anantpura District, Andhra Pradesh, India and Gwangju, Korea. The SUV will go on sale in our market in the second half of 2019, most probably around August-September.
The Kia Seltos is based on an all-new monocoque front-wheel-drive platform, which is compatible enough to accommodate 7-seater model in future. This platform will also be used to develop the next-gen Hyundai Creta. In terms of styling, the 5-seater SUV gets Kia’s signature Tiger Nose grille, sleek headlamps, shark fin antenna, dual-tone machine-finished alloys and LED tail-lamps. The cabin is premium and loaded with several features like segment-largest 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Bose sound system, head-up display and many more. It will be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. The company is also working on the performance oriented version of the SUV, which will receive a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine.

Kia Seltos Launch
The Kia Seltos SUV is scheduled to be launched globally in the second half of 2019. The 5-seater premium SUV is most likely to be launched in August-September 2019, before Diwali festive season. We will update you as soon as Kia makes an official announcement on the same.

The Korean SUV will be offered in 2 BS6 compliant engine options – a 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel. Both engines will be available with a choice of manual and automatic gearboxes. The Kia Seltos SUV will also receive a performance oriented version. It will be powered by a performance oriented 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox with paddle-shifters.
Kia Seltos Mileage
The SUV is expected to return decent fuel efficiency in petrol and diesel guise. While the petrol model is likely to deliver around 15-17kmpl, the oil burner could return around 20kmpl.
Kia Seltos Design
The production version of the Kia SP2i remains largely identical in terms of design to the SP Signature concept that debuted at the 2019 Seoul Motor Show. Upfront is a signature Tiger Nose radiator grille, flanked by sharper LED headlamps with a 3D light graphic and a diamond pattern at their tailing edges. It features vertically stacked compact LED fog lamps, sporty bumper and a skid plate. At the back, the Kia SP2i gets sleek LED tail-lamps, a chunky bumper with a metallic muffler effect and a faux skid plate lower on the bumper. There is a chrome-finished window lines that rises sharply towards the rear gives it a strong profile. Instead of the 19-inch alloy wheels, the Kia Seltos will receive the 16-, 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 225/45-section Kumho tyres. The SUV will come with a total of eight colour options, along with five dual-tone paint schemes.
Kia Seltos Interior
The Kia Seltos gets high quality and premium interior. Metallic highlights can be seen around the air-vents, while the sweeping dashboard design gives it a broad and premium appeal. The grab-bar on the passenger side of the center console adds a sporty feel. It comes equipped with a segment-largest 10.25-inch touchscreen navigation system that offers a range of features. The center console has features for the ventilation and air conditioning. It is fitted with Kia’s Sound Mood Lighting technology that can alter the cabin’s ambient lighting to suit occupant’s preferences. Other features are likely to include a 360-degree camera, wireless charging, automatic climate control, and in-car WiFi.
The GT-Line performance variant of the Seltos gets red accents on the wheels and contrasting red stitching for an all-black interior. Other features include flat-bottom steering wheel and red inserts on the bumpers. The International-spec model gets Kia’s UVO Connect connectivity suit, which is similar to the Hyundai Venue’s BlueLink. This system provides AI based voice command, vehicle tracking and immobilisation, remote engine start and stop, safety alert, remote control of the air purifier and many more.
In terms of safety and security, the Kia Seltos gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC (Electronic Stability Control), VSM (Vehicle Stability Management), hill start assist, front and rear parking sensors and a blind spot view monitor.
