Hyundai has started testing the next-gen Creta SUV on the Indian roads. A new set of spy images reveal the actual design of the India-spec Creta, which looks significantly different from the current model. The spotted model shares the platform, body panels and interior with the international-spec model.

The India-spec model comes with differently designed grille, which has chequered pattern instead of honeycomb one seen on the China-spec car. Adding to it, the new Hyundai Creta will have newly styled alloy wheels. The company is expected to offer multiple wheel designs finished in silver, grey and new diamond-cut form.

It is expected that Hyundai will offer multiple options for the upholstery and colour schemes for the interior. It is confirmed that the second generation Hyundai Creta will come with a panoramic sunroof. The Chinese-spec Hyundai ix25 is 4,300mm long, 1,790mm wide and 1,622mm tall, which makes it 30mm longer, 10mm wider and 8mm shorter than the previous model. The India-spec model is likely to come with larger ground clearance.

In terms of styling, the all-new Hyundai Creta features a two-box SUV design with Hyundai’s new design language. Featuring flat hood, the front design is more rounded than the upright in the outgoing model. Upfront is a signature Hyundai ‘cascading grille’, split headlamp setup with slim LED DRLs on top and main headlight on lower bumper with separate enclosure. There is a small light placed between the LED DRLs and the headlamp cluster.

The SUV features square-ish wheel arches and the newly styled split tail-lamp setup. The tail-light runs across the tailgate, while the brake light and turn signals are positioned below it. The SUV could receive different interior options, similar to that of the Chinese-spec model. The SUV is expected to receive a vertically stacked 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The 2020 Hyundai Creta will be offered with 3 BS6 compliant engines – a 115bhp, 1.5-litre petrol, a 115bhp, 1.5-litre diesel and a 140bhp, 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol. Hyundai could also opt for the 1.0-litre turbocharged unit that also powers the Venue. This engine produces 118bhp and 172Nm of torque. A mild-hybrid version of the SUV could also be launched in our market. All the engines will come with options of manual and automatic gearbox.
