Jeep Compass To Get New Variants In India

Jeep India is also working on two all-new products for the Indian market.

Jeep Compass has turned fortune of the American SUV maker in the Indian market. Aiming to further boost its sales, the company will launch a few new variants of the Compass in the next six months. Speaking to Autocar, Steve Zanlunghi, Head of Jeep (APAC region), said that that company aims to “keep the Compass fresh and alive” and to do so it will expand the SUV lineup with new models.

While the details of the new variants are still under the wraps, we believe one of them will be the Jeep Compass Trailhawk.  The Compass Trailhawk is essentially the off-road/trail rated version of the standard model. Its official launch date and details are yet to be revealed. Though, reports in media suggest that it will hit roads early next year.

For power, the Jeep Compass Trailhawk uses a 2.0L, four-cylinder Multijet II diesel engine producing 168bhp and 350Nm of torque. The oil burner will come with a 9-speed automatic gearbox, supported by Jeep’s Selec-Terrain traction control system with an additional Rock mode. The trail rated version of the Compass will additionally get hill decent control, power and torque distribution, locking axles and slightly higher (20mm) ground clearance. Besides the Compass Trailhawk version, Jeep might also introduce the Compass Night Eagle Edition, which is already on sale in the Brazilian market. The Jeep Compass Might Eagle edition gets some cosmetic enhancements over the standard model including grille with glossy black finish, fog lamps bezels, 18-inch alloy wheels and AC vents and centre console. Jeep India is also planning to expand its localization in six different nations including India, Brazil, Mexico, Italy and China. The carmaker might localize the Jeep Wrangler in India, which is currently imported from US and then assembled at its Ranjangaon plant near Pune. The company is also working on two all-new products for the Indian market, and that could be the new Jeep Renedage and an all-new sub-4 meter SUV.
