New Generation Peugeot 2008 Compact SUV Rendered

2019 Peugeot 2008 Rendered

The 2019 Peugeot 2008 will be based on the new Compact Modular Platform (CMP) developed by PSA.

New-generation Peugeot 2008 subcompact SUV is likely to make its global debut at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, which is scheduled to happen in September. While the unveiling of the compact SUV is a year away, its digital rendering has surfaced on the web. The 2019 Peugeot 2008 will be based on the new Compact Modular Platform (CMP) developed by Peugeot parent company – PSA.

The new architecture will debut on the new Peugeot 208 hatchback that could be previewed at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. It will make the 2019 Peugeot 2008 around 40kg lighter than the outgoing model that uses PF-1 platform. The updated model might also be slightly longer than the predecessor.

The rendering shows that the design and styling of the 2019 Peugeot 2008 SUV will be more evolved than the old. It will share most of its bits with the new Peugeot 208 hatchback. However, major changes will be made inside the cabin. The material quality will also be classed-up. It will get an entirely new dashboard with Peugeot’s i-Cockpit instrument panel. Read – Iconic Hindustan Ambassador Brand Sold To Peugeot

While the existing global-spec Peugeot 2008 comes with a 1.2-litre PureTech petrol engine with power ranging between 85bhp to 130bhp, the updated model will get PSA’s new-gen 1.5-litre BlueHDi diesel motor. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual (standard) and an 8-speed automatic unit (only on the higher trims). The SUV will come with the front-wheel-drive system only.

In 2017, PSA (Peugeot Citroen Motors) had announced that it will make a comeback in India under the joint venture with CK Birla Group by 2020. The company will make an investment of around Rs 700 crore for setting up a production facility in Chennai. It will be the same plant which is being used by Hindustan Motors and Mitsubishi and use the former’s distribution networks.
