India’s Top 7 SUVs To Get Updates – Hyundai, Tata, Mahindra

SUV market has been thriving at an exponential rate in the country. While several new models have already been lined up, car manufacturers are ready to give mid-life updates and generation change to their existing models. Here’s a brief on India’s popular SUVs, which will receive major updates (facelifts) in coming months. The list includes Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Hector and Gloster, Citroen C5 Aircross, Tata Harrier and Mahindra XUV300.

Hyundai Creta

2022 Hyundai Creta India

The South Korean automaker’s top-selling SUV – Hyundai Creta – will witness noticeable cosmetic and feature upgrades in coming months. It’s surely be among the much-awaited SUVs that will launch this year. The new model will carry Hyundai’s new ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design language along with the new-generation Tucson-like parametric jewel grille. The SUV will also feature slightly updated front grille, lower air-dam, revised tailgate design and new LED taillamps. One of the major feature upgrades might come in the form of the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite. It will also get an updated BlueLink connected car tech, a new digital driver’s display and a 360 degree camera. Kia Seltos

New Kia Seltos facelift

The 2022 Kia Seltos facelift was recently unveiled for the South Korean market. Most of the changes will be cosmetic. The SUV will have a newly-designed grille and front bumper, larger air dam, horn-shaped faux skid plate, revised headlamps with LED DRLs, new fog lamps and updated LED taillamps connected via LED light bar. Inside, the SUV might get new seat upholstery, a fully digital instrument console, an updated infotainment system and new connected car features. No changes are likely to be made under the hood. MG Motor India will give mid-life updates to the Hector and Gloster SUVs. The former is reported to launch during 2022 Diwali season and the latter is likely to come towards the end of this year. The 2022 MG Hector facelift is likely to come with the Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) similar to the Astor. It might also receive an updated digital instrument cluster, AI assist and infotainment with better user interface. Under the hood, the new Hector and Gloster SUVs are likely to feature the same engines, which are offered on the current models. Citroen C5 Aircross facelift India

The French automaker is ready to give an update to the Citroen C5 Aircross SUV during this Diwali season (i.e. around September – October 2022). The model will feature the single-piece wraparound headlamps instead of the split units. The lower bumper with larger air-dam, newly-designed alloy wheels and updated taillamps with rectangular lighting elements and darkened finish will further enhance its new look. The 2022 Citroen C5 Aircross facelift will have a bigger infotainment unit along with the better cushioned front seats, wireless charging and additional USB ports. New Tata Harrier 2023 facelift

The Tata Harrier facelift is reported to arrive in early 2023. Noticeable changes are likely to be made to its design, interior and engine mechanism. Media reports suggest that the new Harrier could be offered with the 1.5L turbo petrol engine, which is essentially the calibrated version of the 1.2L Revotron motor. It will deliver power close to 150bhp and come with automatic gearbox, paddle shifters and multiple drive modes. The existing 170bhp, 2.0L Kryotec diesel engine with manual and automatic transmission will also be retained. Mahindra XUV300 Facelift

The updated Mahindra XUV300, which is currently in its testing phase, is likely to hit roads in early 2023. The model will receive comprehensive changes inside and out. Though, the major update could be the new 1.2L mStallion petrol engine making 130bhp and 230Nm. The new, more powerful gasoline motor could be reserved for higher trims and lower variants might continue to come with the existing 1.2L turbo unit. The SUV will also be available with the 1.5L diesel engine. The 2023 Mahindra XUV300 might source its touchscreen infotainment system from the XUV700.
