The South Korean automaker recently unveiled the fourth-generation Tucson SUV in India. While its prices will be announced on 4th August, official bookings are likely to start in coming days. Speaking at the unveiling event, Tarun Garg, Director, Sales & Marketing at Hyundai Motor India, has revealed that the company aims to strengthen its market in the premium SUV segment. In fiscal year 2022, sales of models priced above Rs 15 lakh has increased to 15% for Hyundai from 2% in FY18 (which is over seven folds).
At present, the Hyundai Creta SUV and Verna mid-size sedan have a base of 1.2 million customers. The company believes that its customers will “upgrade and stick to the Hyundai brand”. With sales of around 250,000 SUVs by 31st March 2022, Hyundai India managed to retain the top spot in the segment. In order to further increase its market share, the company will bring in the 2022 Hyundai Creta facelift with noticeable cosmetic changes and feature upgrades.
The new 2022 Hyundai Creta facelift, which is already on sale in Indonesia, will hit Indian roads in the second half of this year. The SUV’s updated model will feature Hyundai’s new ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design language along with the new ‘Parametric Jewel’ grille. Design changes such as silver finish around the front grille and the lower air-dam, newly designed LED taillamps and a revised tailgate design will further distinguish it from the current model.
Instead of the dual-tone interior, the new Creta might get all-black theme. Rumour has it that the SUV’s new model could be offered with ADAS (advanced driver assistance system). There could also be a new digital driver’s display, a 360 degree camera, an updated BlueLink connected car tech.
Engine setup is likely to remain intact. Similar to the current model, the updated one will come with the 113bhp, 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol, 113bhp, 1.5L turbo diesel and 138bhp, 1.4L turbo petrol motor options.
