Hyundai Venue Rival Volkswagen T-Sport Debut in May 2020
We reported earlier that Volkswagen will introduce an all-new sub-compact SUV, which will be positioned below the T-Cross. Called the T-Sport, the new VW coupe-styled SUV is scheduled to make public debut in May 2020. The small SUV will come with a coupe-like profile, which makes it look different from the rivals in the compact crossover segment.
If media reports claim that the new VW T-Sport compact SUV will be sold only with the 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. This engine offers two states of tune – 116bhp and 128bhp. The mini SUV will be based on the MQB AO platform that also underpins the Polo. It will come with 2.56 meter of wheelbase similar to that of the Polo. The report further claims that the Volkswagen T-Sport will ride on 16-inch wheels with 205/60 tires, and 17-inch wheels shod with 205/55 section tyres. The coupe-SUV will offer a boot space of around 300-litres. The range-topping variants will be powered by a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder TSI petrol engine that produces 128bhp and 200Nm of torque. It will be mated to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The entry-level variants will get the less powerful version of the same 1.0L engine, which will offer 116bhp of power and 172Nm of torque. It will only be available with a 6-speed manual gearbox. While the exterior design of the T-Sport is different, the cabin is expected to be shared with the Polo. The company could offer different interior bits and colour options for the centre console. The SUV will be fitted with stability control, traction control and 4 airbags.
