Hyundai aims to sell 10,000 Venue compact SUV every month

Hyundai is aiming to become India’s best selling SUV brand.

Hyundai will officially launch the much-awaited Venue sub-4 meter SUV on May 21, 2019. Few dealers have already started taking advance bookings for the Venue, though official bookings will open on the 2nd of May, 2019. Hyundai is aiming to sell around 10,000 units of the Venue in India each month. If Venue manages to hit these numbers, Hyundai will be become India’s best-selling SUV brand with nearly 20,000 unit sales per month. Hyundai is currently selling over 10,000 units of the Creta SUV in India each month.

Speaking to Telegraph, Puneet Anand, Senior General Manager & Group Head of Hyundai Motor India Limited, said, “If we manage to do 10,000 units of the Venue every month, we will be the largest SUV seller in India, selling 20,000 units every month.”

The Hyundai Venue sub-4 meter compact SUV will be the brand’s global product. Not just in India, the Venue will also go on sale in select developed markets like United States. For people not in the know, the Hyundai Venue made its public debut at the 2019 New York Motor Show. In India, the sub-4 meter SUV will rival the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon and the Mahindra XUV300.

The Hyundai Venue will be available in 3 engine options – a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol, a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.4-litre U2 CRDi diesel. The turbocharged petrol engine is capable of producing 118bhp and 172Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch unit. Paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, the 1.2L petrol engine offers 82bhp and 114Nm. The oil burner is good for 89bhp of power and 220Nm of torque. The Hyundai Venue is equipped with several segment-leading features including wireless charger, 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, air-purifier, and advanced Blue Link connectivity solution. It has in-built eSIM, which makes it the first connected SUV in its category. Some of the features include electric sunroof, 6 airbags, ESP, traction control, hill hold assist, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic headlamps, etc.
