Globally, the new Hyundai 8-seater SUV will take on the Ford Expedition and the Chevrolet Suburban.

First spy pictures of the all-new Hyundai 8-seater SUV have emerged on the web. During the unveiling of the new Santa Fe, the South Korean carmaker confirmed that it’s working on a new 8-seater SUV that will be stacked up against the Ford Expedition and the Chevrolet Suburban in the global market. The carmaker also announced the longer wheelbase 7-seater version of the Santa Fe (Santa Fe XL).

Hyundai 8-seater SUV Spy Pictures

The heavily camouflaged prototype was tested under the cold weather on foreign land. The spy pictures reveal that the new Hyundai 8-seater SUV will be based on the new-gen Santa Fe, carrying similar silhouettes. Upfront, the vehicle features Hyundai’s signature grille, low-mounted LED projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, wide central airdam and Santa Fe-inspired fender and hood. Read – Hyundai Cars at 2018 Auto Expo

While the test mule was equipped with black alloy wheels, the production version of the SUV is likely to get different units. Carrying bigger proportions, the new Hyundai 8-seater SUV might use a new platform. Engine details of the vehicle are still under the wraps. Hyundai might also introduce a hybrid version of the SUV offering a maximum power output around 400bhp. While the front-wheel-drive (FWD) is likely to be standard on the carline, the all-wheel-drive (AWD) system could be optional.
