Honda ZR-V SUV Imagined As A Mid-Sized SUV: Hyundai Creta Rival

Honda ZR-V Rendered

It is no secret that Honda is developing multiple SUVs including the next-gen HR-V, a sub-4 meter SUV and an all-new mid-sized SUV. The company has recently registered the Honda ZR-V name, which suggested that one of the upcoming Honda SUVs could be called the ZR-V. Brazilian artist, Kleber Silva has released a digital rendering of the future SUV.

Instead of a sub-4 meter SUV, the rendering suggests that the ZR-V will be a mid-sized SUV to challenge the likes of the Hyundai Creta and the Jeep Compass. The rendering seems inspired by some of the Honda’s bigger SUVs currently on sale in the Chinese and select international markets. The Honda ZR-V rendering has angular front fascia, which has some resemblance with current-gen Honda Passport and the Pilot SUVs. It features the sculpted bonnet, slimmer headlamps and strong creases on the bonnet and bumper.

Other design highlights include floating roofline, flared wheel arches, raked rear windscreen. Except for the front design, the overall profile of the rendering is directly lifted from the Changan Uni-T. The digitally imagined SUV has new paint scheme and differently designed alloy wheels. We believe that the new Honda ZR-V will be the brand’s new compact SUV, which will be introduced in the Japanese market in 2021. The SUV will have simpler and clean design, which will be inspired by the next-gen Honda HR-V. In the Japanese market, the sub-4 meter SUV will take on the likes of the Suzuki Jimny and the Toyota Raize. If it launched in India, the SUV will take on the likes of the Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon and the upcoming Kia Sonet.

Honda is also working on an all-new mid-sized SUV, which will be positioned right between the sub-4 meter SUV and the upcoming HR-V. Japanese media reports that the next-gen HR-V will grow in size and will measure around 4.4 meters in length. This will offer enough space to introduce a new SUV, which will measure around 4.3 meters. The new sub-4 meter SUV and the new mid-sized SUV will be based on the new City’s platform, while the next HR-V will mark the debut of Honda’s new platform.

The sub-4 meter SUV for the Indian market could utilise the new Honda Amaze platform, which should help Honda to achieve competitive pricing. The company is already selling the WR-V crossover based on the Jazz platform, which is relatively expensive for a sub-4 meter SUV.
