Top 10 Features of the New-gen Honda City Sedan

Japanese automaker, Honda has resumed the production of its cars at the Tapukara plant in Rajasthan. The company has also opened 155 dealerships across the country. Soon after the lockdown, the Japanese automaker will launch the long-awaited new-gen City sedan in India. Adding to it, the company will introduce the WR-V facelift and the BSVI compliant Jazz hatchback in the next couple of months. In this article we bring you top 10 exciting new features of the new-gen Honda City sedan.

1. New 1.5L Petrol Engine

The new-gen Honda Honda City sedan will be offered with new 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. This new engine is derived from the global Honda Civic’s 1.5L VTEC engine; however, Honda engineers have de-tuned the engine for the City sedan. The new engine is claimed to offer 121bhp of power and 155Nm of torque, which is slightly more powerful and offers 10Nm higher torque than the outgoing model.

2. Diesel Engine with CVT

The diesel version will be powered by the BSVI compliant 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine that is capable of producing 99bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. A six-speed manual gearbox will be offered as standard. For the first time, the diesel City will be offered with a CVT automatic gearbox option.

3. Bigger & Spacious

In terms of proportions, the new Honda City is 4,549mm long, 1,748mm wide and 1,489mm tall. It is 109mm longer, 53mm wider and 6mm shorter than the outgoing model. The wheelbase remains the same at 2,600mm; however, the global model has a wheelbase of 2,589mm. The increase in dimensions will help the Japanese automaker to create more space inside the cabin.

4. Lane Watch Camera

The new-gen City will be equipped with Lane Watch Assist System, which we have already seen on the CR-V and the new-gen Civic sedan. This system will activate the camera on the left ORVM on the use of indicator. This will help driver to get view of blind spot and helps in lane switching.

5. Segment-first VSA & AHA

The new-gen Honda City will be equipped with segment-first Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) and Agile Handling Assist (AHA). The VSA uses independent brake on each wheel to maintain the balance during sharp corners. On the other hand, the AHA works by applying brakes on the interior wheels during a corner. The top-end variant of the new City will receive six airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, ABS with EBD, reverse camera, etc.

6. G-Force Meter

The new model comes with a coloured 7-inch HD multi-info display, which has a G-Force meter. This function is normally offered in high-end cars including the Nissan GT-R. The G-Force meter calculates the magnitude as well as the direction of the acceleration of the car during cornering or braking.

7. New 8-inch touchscreen infotainment

The new-gen City sedan will be equipped with an all-new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which will be compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. This system will also be compatible with Voice command and Navigation. Also See – Old Honda City to be re-introduced for fleet operators

8. Amazon Alexa Support

The new-gen Honda City will be the first car in India to feature Amazon Alexa. The car will sync with the Alexa home devices and the owner can control number of things from the car itself. Using Alexa remote, owner can change songs, order online, set reminders and others.

9. Honda Connect with Telematics controls

Joining the likes of the Hyundai, Kia and MG Motors, Honda Cars India will introduce its connected car technology in India. The new City will be the first car to feature the Honda Connect with a telematics control unit in India. This system will show several features like real-time vehicle tracking and remotely share car status details.

10. All-LED lighting

The top-of-the-line variant of the new Honda City will receive all-LED lights including full LED heeadlamps. It has 9 LED lamps and integrated LED DRL (Daytime Running Lamps). The sedan also has L-shaped turn signals integrated into the headlamps. The sedan also gets Z-shaped wrap-around 3D rear combination lamps with LED edge light and LED side marker lamps.
