Honda ZR-V Name Registered; Hinting New Compact SUV
It is no secret that Honda is developing several new SUVs, which are expected to be launched globally in the next couple of years. In our knowledge, Honda will introduce 3 all-new SUV including the next-gen HR-V, a new mid-sized SUV and an all-new sub-4 meter SUV. The new HR-V will also mark the debut of new Honda Platform, which will be used to develop future Honda cars.
The other two SUVs will be based on the new-gen Honda City platform, which also underpins the new Jazz hatchback. These two SUVs might also launch in our market. A new media report claims that Honda has registered the ZR-V nameplate, which is likely to be the name for Honda’s upcoming new SUV.
There are no details about the upcoming Honda ZR-V, but it is expected to be the name for the new compact crossover. Honda is currently selling a wide range of SUVs with names like CR-V, HR-V, UR-V, BR-V, WR-V and XR-V in the global markets. While the CR-V is the high-end model, the Honda WR-V is the entry-level crossover in the global markets. Going by the nomenclature, it is expected that the new ZR-V could be a new compact SUV.
The Japanese automaker will launch an all-new sub-4 meter SUV in the domestic market in 2021. The new compact SUV is also expected to be launched in our market in the second half of 2021. It will take on the likes of the Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300 and others. The company will launch an all-new mid-sized SUV, which will be positioned below the HR-V. It will rival the likes of the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta and others in its category. The new models will be offered with multiple engine options including traditional 1.5L petrol and diesel engines, a new 1.0L turbocharged petrol and 1.5L petrol with hybrid system.
