Honda SP 125, the new commuter from the Japanese two-wheeler marker, has finally made its way to India. It’s the company’s first motorcycle that meets the upcoming BS6 (Bharat Stage VI) emission norms that will be enforced from 1st April, 2020. 1. Variants and Prices

The Honda SP 125 commuter has been made available in two variants – Drum and Disc – priced at Rs 72,900 and Rs 77,100 (all, ex-showroom Delhi) respectively. Deliveries of the bike will be commenced in Delhi from the next week. And within a month, it will be made available across the nation.

2. More Efficient Engine

For power, the Honda SP 125 makes use of a new 125 cc, fuel-injected engine with Honda’s Enhanced Smart Power (eSP) technology. This system not only improves performance and fuel economy, but reduces friction inside the moving components of the engine as well. Features such a piston cooling jet, an offset crank and rocker arm and fuel-injection system with 8 sensors further enhance its performance. The Honda SP 125 pushes out a peak power of 10.72bhp at 7,500rpm and 10.9Nm of peak torque at 6,000rpm.

3. Improved Design

Compared to the Honda CB Shine SP, the new Honda SP 125 is longer, wider and taller. The bike gets a sharply designed LED headlamp, muscular fuel tank, sculpted extensions with edgy graphics, newly-designed five-spoke split alloy wheels, exhaust muffler with part chrome shield and a boldly designed tail. 4. More Features

The new Honda SP 125 comes with a pack of segment-first features including the silent-start ACG starter motor. It gets new switchgear and an integrated pass switch. The low/high beam and an engine start/stop button are integrated on the left and the right handlebar respectively.

It’s the first motorcycle in its segment to offer full digital instrument console with multiple read-outs such as average fuel economy, real time fuel efficiency, gear position indicator, service due indicator, eco mode indicator, distance to empty and more.

5. To Be Retailed Alongside the CB Shine

Honda SP 125 is essentially the updated version of the Honda CB Shine. For the new model lineup, the company has dropped the ‘CB Shine’ from the nameplate. Though, the Honda CB Shine SP will continue to be sold alongside the new Honda SP 125.
