– Tata Harrier
The homegrown automaker, Tata Motors will launch the much-awaited Tata Harrier 5-seater SUV in the first quarter of 2019. Bookings for the SUV have already been commenced at a token amount of Rs 30,000. It will be Tata’s first SUV to feature the all-new OMEGA platform, which is derived from Land Rover D8 architecture. This SUV design inspiration comes from Tata’s new IMPACT 2.0 Design Philosophy. It is powered by a new 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine that produces 138bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Japanese automaker will launch its global SUV – HR-V – in the Indian market in the second half of 2019. This SUV will be brand’s new 5-seater SUV to challenge the likes of Hyundai Creta and Tata Harrier. This SUV will be powered by a newly developed 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine that produces 118bhp of power and 300Nm of torque. The petrol version of the SUV will get a 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine that is good for 118bhp.

Nissan has officially unveil the long-awaited Kicks compact SUV in India. This 5-seater premium SUV will officially go on sale in the first quarter of 2019, most probably in January. While the global model is based on the Nissan’s V-platform, the India-spec model will use the heavily localised Duster’s BO platform. The SUV will be powered by a 1.5-litre K9K diesel and a 1.5-litre petrol engine.

Korean automaker, Kia will officially launch its first product in India in the first half of 2019. The first model will be a 5-seater SUV, which will be based on the SP concept. The SUV is most likely to be launched in the second quarter of 2019. It will share the mechanism with the Creta, which means a 1.6-litre diesel and 1.6-litre petrol engines.

Czech automaker, Skoda will launch the global Karoq 5-seater premium SUV in the Indian market in the second half of 2019. Already on sale in select international markets, the Karoq is based on VW Group’s MQB modular platform that also underpins the Kodiaq. It will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine paired to a six-speed manual and 7-speed DSG automatic.
