We informed you earlier that Honda will launch the new-generation CR-V 7-seater model in India before Diwali 2018. According to AutoCarIndia, the SUV will go on sale in October 2018. Besides this, Honda will launch the new-generation Civic sedan in India in the first quarter of 2019. As a reminder, Honda had showcased the new CR-V at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo.
The new-gen CR-V is larger in size than the outgoing model. For the first time in India, the SUV will be offered in a 7-seat configuration. Adding to it, the SUV will receive a diesel powertrain for the first time in India. The diesel version will be powered by a 1.6-litre i-DTEC turbocharged unit, which will also power the new Civic. This engine is capable of producing a maximum power output of 120bhp and a peak torque of 300Nm. It will be mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox with paddle-shifters. In global markets, the CR-V diesel gets a more powerful version of the same 1.6-litre i-DTEC engine. The global powertrain comes with two turbochargers, which increase the power to 158bhp and 350Nm of torque. However, twin-turbocharger will increase the prices of SUV by up to 1.5 lakh. It was speculated that the petrol version of the SUV will be powered by a 2.4-litre i-VTEC engine. However, the new report claims that the SUV will get a 2.0-litre i-VTEC engine mated to a CVT unit. This engine produces 154bhp of power and 189Nm of torque. It will come in the front-wheel-drive form only, devoid of paddle-shifters.
Dimensionally, the new CRV measures 4,596mm in length, 1,855mm in width and 1,679mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,660mm. It comes with a ground clearance of 198mm. This seven-seater SUV has a boot space of 150-litres, which can be extended up to 472-litres and 967-litres by folding third row and second row respectively.
